Correctional Staff to Receive Pay Increase Effective September 1

TDCJ is excited to announce that for the fourth year in a row, correctional staff will receive a pay increase. This session, the Texas Legislature approved a 10% pay increase for all correctional staff. With the implementation of these raises, correctional staff have received over a 40% pay increase since 2022.
Additionally, the State Auditor’s Office (SAO) updates job descriptions and classifications at the end of each legislative session. After reviewing the correctional officer series, the SAO is reinstating the Correctional Officer I position for newly hired officers. Men and women will move to Correctional Officer II at 7 months, and a Correctional Officer III at 13 months of service. TDCJ will be adding a new title to our series, Senior Correctional Officer, to recognize those with 73 or more months of service. Senior Correctional Officers will receive a new patch in recognition of their service.
