New Chief Operations Officer Selected for Texas Department of Criminal Justice

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) is pleased to announce the selection of Ron Hudson as the Chief Operations Officer.

Hudson has over 32 years of experience with TDCJ, beginning as a correctional officer in 1992. In 1998, he promoted to the Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Logistics (MAL) Division where he served in a variety of positions to include Accountant, Division Accountant, Assistant Division Manager and Division Manager. In 2012, Hudson promoted to the Assistant Director of Laundry, Food, and Supply within the Correctional Institutions Division. He returned to the MAL Division in 2017 where he served as the Deputy Division Director for both Agribusiness, Land & Minerals and Texas Correctional Industries. He was reassigned to the Facilities Division in 2021 where he served as the Deputy Division Director, and most recently as the Division Director since 2022. Hudson holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Sam Houston State University.

“Ron brings extensive operational experience and proven leadership to his new role as Chief Operations Officer and will serve our agency well,” TDCJ Executive Director Bobby Lumpkin said. “His strategic vision and commitment to excellence will be instrumental in driving the organization’s continued growth and success.”
