Attention TDCJ Volunteer

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) makes every effort to keep our volunteers well informed. Your safety is important to the agency!

To ensure the health and safety of our volunteers, offenders, and employees, the agency has implemented steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Effective immediately, all volunteer visits will be suspended until further notice. This includes the Volunteer Services office located in Huntsville, Texas. Volunteer Services will continue to accept volunteer applications via fax and mail as normal.

Certified Volunteer Chaplain’s Assistants (CVCA) are asked to contact your local chaplain or administration for details for maintaining services.

All volunteer trainings (statewide, both within and outside of TDCJ facilities) are canceled until further notice. During this time, your volunteer status will not be suspended due to lack of training or retraining.

Please frequent the webpage for any possible updates on the COVID-19 virus.

Thank you for choosing to serve as a volunteer for the TDCJ. Feel free to contact the Volunteer Services office or the local chaplain’s office if you have questions or need assistance.

Sincerely,

Rene Hinojosa
