New Leadership Named for the Parole and Rehabilitation Programs Divisions
Congratulations are in order as multiple members of leadership are on the move this month!
Mr. Rene Hinojosa, the former Director of the Rehabilitation Programs Division, has been selected as the Director of the Parole Division.
Mr. Hinojosa has over 26 years of criminal justice experience within the TDCJ, beginning his career as an Institutional Parole Officer in the Parole Division. Mr. Hinojosa has served in various positions and divisions throughout his career to include District Parole Officer, Parole Analyst, Program Administrator, Contract Monitor, Region Supervisor, Deputy Division Director of the Administrative Review and Risk Management Division and the Private Facility Contract Monitoring Oversight Division. Rene’s most recent promotion came in November of 2017, when he was named Director of the Rehabilitation Programs Division.
Where one journey ends, another begins. Replacing Mr. Hinojosa, the TDCJ has named Mr. Christopher Carter as the Director of the Rehabilitation Programs Division.
Mr. Carter has over 25 years of criminal justice experience within the TDCJ, beginning his career as a Correctional Officer in the Correctional Institutions Division. Mr. Carter promoted through the correctional ranks to Senior Warden, a position he held for seven years at multiple TDCJ facilities. In 2017, he promoted into the position of Deputy Division Director for the Administrative Review and Risk Management Division, where he was responsible for the oversight of Risk Management, Monitoring and Standards and the Administrative Monitor for the Use of Force Office. Mr. Carter was then named Deputy Division Director of the Rehabilitation Programs Division in May of 2019.
Their proven leadership and wealth of experience will serve the agency well in their new capacities.
